This Privacy Policy describes how Zigra (“we”) collects, uses and protects the personal data of users of the Zigra carpooling application (the “App”).
1. Data we collect
- Identification data: first name, last name, phone number, email address, profile photo.
- Ride data: departure and arrival points, routes, schedules, bookings, ride history.
- Location data: GPS position while using the App, to display nearby rides and provide real-time tracking.
- Payment data: information needed to process mobile payments (TelMa Money / MVOLA). We do not store your full payment credentials.
- Technical data: device identifier, notification token, device type, usage logs.
- Communications: messages exchanged via in-app messaging, ratings and reviews.
2. Purposes of processing
We use your data to:
- create and manage your account;
- connect drivers and passengers and organize rides;
- display location and provide real-time ride tracking;
- process payments and cost sharing;
- enable communication between Users;
- send service-related notifications;
- ensure security, prevent fraud and abuse;
- improve the App and our Services.
3. Legal basis
We process your data based on the performance of the contract (provision of the Services), your consent (e.g. for geolocation), our legitimate interest (security, improvement) and our legal obligations.
4. Data sharing
Your data may be shared with:
- other Users involved in a ride (strictly necessary information: first name, photo, meeting point, contact);
- our technical providers, notably Google Firebase (authentication, database, notifications, hosting) and Google Maps (mapping and routing);
- mobile payment providers (TelMa Money / MVOLA) to process transactions;
- competent authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers (e.g. Google) may process data outside Madagascar. We ensure appropriate safeguards govern such transfers.
6. Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, then for the period necessary to comply with our legal obligations and handle disputes. You may request deletion of your account at any time.
7. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss or alteration (encryption of communications, access control).
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to and port your data. You may exercise these rights from within the App or by contacting us at support@zigra.com.
You may delete your account and data at any time: see the Delete account page.
9. Location
The App uses your location to function. You can disable geolocation in your device settings, but some features may no longer be available.
10. Minors
The App is not intended for persons under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy. In the event of material changes, you will be informed via the App.
